Assess or determine the potential benefit or improvement and estimated effort of the option presented.
Relationships
Main Description

In order to get a clear picture of not only the alternative it is also desirable to know what the expected benefit or impact of the option is. Questions to be answered are:

  • What is the expected benefit if this option will be implemented?
  • How feasible is this option; is it a major undertaking or just an adjustment to current business context?
  • What are the costs involved with this option in an order of magnitude?
  • Is the option for improvement in line with the business requirements or objectives of the client?

Note that we are looking for an order of magnitude benefit and effort. It is important to exclude ludicrous and exotic options but also to keep options on the agenda that have a serious chance as contenders to the already defined options. So a quick assessment is a more suitable approach than a full scale business case.
